Old sailors never die: they are too busy sailing. Most of today's seniors are both healthier and more prosperous than ever, and are therefore ready to carry out their dream of sailing. In Cruising for Seniors, Paul Keller explains why and how he and his wife Emily started a sailing circumnavigation while in their sixties.

This practical book explains in detail how to choose a boat and equip it, paying attention to both general considerations about safety and those concerns specific to older people. Piloting, seamanship, and navigation are all addressed.

Additionally, three different experts provide valuable input on three distinct aspects of cruising. First, John Strong, owner of a marine electrical service in Portland, Oregon, supplies a chapter on electrics “because the industry has advanced so fast and set standards that are quite tough.” Then Dr. Mark Anderson offers a brilliant and concise overview of the medical problems that seniors might encounter while cruising. Finally, Emily Keller, the author's wife and cruising companion, explains in detail what a sailing lady's life is all about.

“You may not be a senior or even planning on cruising anytime soon, but if you want to learn more about boats, then you should definitely pick up this book.” —The ENSIGN

“…[a] comprehensive guide…laden with sound advice…” —Library Journal
