Ready for Sea! is a comprehensive handbook on how to prepare a sailboat for extended cruising and living aboard. Author Tor Pinney discusses the equipment, systems, and modifications that will transform a basic sailboat already operational and of sound construction into a long range cruiser. He covers a diverse array of topics, including improvements above and below deck, safety at sea, electronics, and much more.
Pinney's laid back and engaging approach make Ready for Sea! not only balanced, accurate, and reliable, but also highly accessible. His own cruising craft have ranged from engineless wooden boats to systems-intensive contemporary vessels, giving him broad and varied experience upon which to draw.
This is the perfect book for anyone who is thinking about converting a boat for use as a long-term cruiser.
