About the Author: As a young naval cadet, Joachim Schult spent two hours fighting for his life in the icy cold waters of the English Channel after his ship was sunk. Later, as an officer charged with saving sailors shipwrecked in the North Atlantic, he was washed overboard and rescued only by sheer chance.
