Few lives have involved as much challenge and adventure as that of Ernest K. Gann. In Song of the Sirens, he invites readers to step aboard seventeen of his most beloved boats, from the beautiful brigantine ALBATROS to the incredible BUTTERFLY, which was hardly more than a raft with patchwork sails. Each vessel has its own fascinating stories teeming with colorful characters, and Gann's masterful storytelling reveals his singular love affair with sailing. Filled with moments of high drama, rollicking humor, and reflective calm, Gann's ode to his seventeen sirens reveals the hopeless romantic within the heart of every sailor.

“In this, his twelfth book, Gann does some of the best writing about the sea and the joys and perils of small ships that has been done in many years… This is a book to be read and then kept comfortably close at hand to be read again, simply for the sheer joy of reading.” —Chicago Sun Times

Song of the Sirens is a classic.” —Newsweek
